OVERVIEW

The largest business centre of Latin America, São Paulo brings together 70 different nationalities, 100 museums, 260 cinemas, 160 performing theatres, 150 libraries, and more than 168 thousand bars and restaurants, making it by far the most cosmopolitan city in the southern hemisphere.

There’s a lot going on, quite frankly.

Here's what we think should form the core of your experience:

Art & Culture

From 19th c Brazilian art, to European fine arts, the International Film Festival and Fashion Week, street art, ballet, opera, and classical music, Sao Paulo has a huge amount of artistic offerings to explore.

There are also neogothic cathedrals, a huge museum showcasing the city’s Jewish heritage, and the Butantã Institute, which produces vaccines against disease, and develops antidotes to the bites of poisonous snakes and spiders.

Cuisine

Sao Paulo’s intense mix of cultures makes it a global culinary hub, with a broad spectrum of dishes and ethnic specialities on offer, at every level of sophistication.

You’ll find traditional Brazilian steakhouses (churrascarias), creative fine dining with ingredients from the rainforest, and everything from beautiful markets to the largest Japanese community outside Japan (Liberdade).

Neighbourhoods

It’s worth bearing in mind that with a population of over 11 million, Sao Paulo is quite a large city, and as such, its neighbourhoods all have their own particular flavour to explore.

Over the course of a few days, you can go back and forth between the classical and the modern, focussed and diverse, hip and down to earth, upscale and artistic, getting a feel for all the different interpretations of modern Brazilian life.

There is a huge amount of shopping on offer here, representing the entire spectrum, from outposts of the usual international suspects, to much more local and interesting Brazilian designers of all sorts.
