One of the single most important game-viewing locations in all of Africa and one of the best preserved natural ecological regions anywhere, Mana Pools has Zimbabwe’s largest populations of crocodiles and hippopotami, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Here's what we think should form the core of your experience:
Animals, Great & Small
While Mana Pools is famous for being an ideal place to spot four of the Big Five – Lions, Elephants, Buffalo, Leopards (no rhinos) – or the five most dangerous animals to track on foot, these are only the start of the wildlife that make their way here looking for water during the dry season. Our world-class guides can get you up close and personal in a way you never imagined, with the expertise to keep you safe and out of harm’s way while having and unforgettable experience for a lifetime.
Reconnecting With the Natural World
Here is a chance to become one with the bush, to learn to live with and around the animals and the natural world, and blend in to its rhythm. Allow yourself to reconnect with the forgotten pieces our human past, if you will, and perhaps rekindle some of the immediacy of nature and its beauty that we’ve all moved away from. Mana Pools is as famous for its conservational status and efforts as it is for its wildlife, and you can expect going in that the memories that you will make here will change your life and how you look at the world forever.
Unplug From Everything Else
Equally, this is the place to take a break from the digital world, and our constant connectivity. This is not to say that you will have to compromise on comfort or even luxury (far from it!), but take your time in the bush as an opportunity to change your focus. Here you can find retreats that will take you back into the present, some blending yoga and mindfulness with safari experiences, and in any case, a much-needed opportunity for all of us to put our rectangles down and just exist the way we were meant to. Listen to one of our guides tell you stories about the old gods and the ways of the animals around a campfire with a glass of wine, and let go for a moment of absolutely everything else.
