Planning

Cairo is a city that rewards thoughtful planning.

Traffic can be intense and cabs are a challenge, so staying in a central area like Zamalek or Garden City can save you time. Our guides are 100% the way to go, and will arrange private transport for you to make all of this about a thousand times easier, and that figure is meant with little exaggeration.

A good itinerary balances visits to monumental sites with moments of relaxation. Pairing a morning at the Pyramids with an afternoon of museum exploration or a stroll through a quieter neighborhood ensures a richer experience.

And don’t forget, sooner or later, you will likely end up somewhere utterly wild. Best prepare in advance for that.

When negotiating (because everything in markets will be negotiated), keep your cool, be prepared in advance for multiple counter offers, and prices which are likely at a minimum 100% + more than whatever you are purchasing should probably go for.

There's no sense in getting too worked up about it. Ultimately, it's wise to be able to decide when you have gotten a 'good enough' price, and call it a day.

But do note that if you don't negotiate at all, the locals will secretly be disappointed.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is Cairo’s must-see attraction.

Advance booking is highly recommended due to its popularity. For the bustling Khan el-Khalili bazaar or quieter spots in Old Cairo, no tickets are required, but early morning visits can help you avoid crowds.

DAY I

Ancient marvels & the pyramids.

Start your morning with a visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Arrive early to beat the crowds and the midday heat.

Consider adding the option to enter the Great Pyramid for an unforgettable experience. For lunch, head to a nearby restaurant with views of the Pyramids—an ideal spot to reflect on the morning’s wonders.

Spend your afternoon at the Grand Egyptian Museum, exploring treasures from Egypt’s ancient past in a world-class setting. Our guides can radically transform your experience in here. For dinner, consider going for traditional Egyptian dishes at an elegant restaurant in Zamalek.

DAY II

Islamic & Old Cairo.

Begin your day at the Citadel of Saladin (yes, the very same one from the film Kingdom of Heaven, though the film is of dubious historical accuracy), taking in its history and stunning vistas.

Spend some time exploring the Muhammad Ali Mosque and other notable structures within the Citadel.

After a relaxed lunch in the nearby Al-Azhar Park, wander into the heart of Khan el-Khalili. Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere, shopping for handicrafts or simply enjoying a coffee at an old-world café. Wrap up the evening with a cultural performance at the Cairo Opera House or a Nile dinner cruise.

DAY III

Memphis, Saqqara, & a Taste of Modern Cairo.

Take a morning excursion to Memphis and Saqqara, where the Step Pyramid of Djoser stands as a testament to Egypt’s architectural ingenuity. If time allows, venture to Dahshur to see the Bent and Red Pyramids—less crowded yet deeply evocative precursors to Giza.

After returning to Cairo, enjoy a late lunch in the Zamalek district and explore its boutiques and galleries at a leisurely pace.

Conclude your day with a sunset stroll along the Corniche, followed by a picking a more contemporary Egyptian dinner, to get a sense for what the modern Egyptian kitchen can do.
